Creating a wildlife garden to leave school legacy

Sewell Construction have joined forces with other local businesses and supply chain partners to develop a new garden and wildlife area for a primary school in Hull.

The Construction Services team, who have worked on various redevelopment and refurbishment projects at Highlands Primary school over recent years, planted 40 trees alongside pupils from the school’s gardening club.

Named ‘Highlands Fruit Grove’, the project saw volunteers from Sewell Construction, Sewell FM and supply chain partner, Landplan, who donated the trees, create the new wildlife area that children will tend to and use as a learning space to find out more about habitats and the environment.

Duncan Wilson, Sewell Construction Services Contracts Manager, said: “Giving back to the local community is so important, particularly through a project like this which has created positive environmental and biodiversity enhancements. We have a strong relationship with the school and have really enjoyed working with them and the children to create such a long-lasting positive legacy for them to enjoy.”
