Sewell Group sign the Armed Forces Covenant

Back in 2021, the Sewell Group pledged to support the armed forces community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. As a Group, this is something we’ve always been passionate about, and signing the covenant has reinforced our commitment to help those who have served, and their families, to find employment.

As well as supporting armed forces charities and events, we provide work experience placements, offer career and training advice and have partnered with the Forces Families Jobs Forum and Career Transition Partnership to promote opportunities across the Group to the armed forces community.

We recently welcomed Service Leaver Ian Davies, to one of our Sewell Construction sites to give him an insight into site management. Ian said;
“My three days’ work placement was fantastic, and I’d personally like to thank Martin Standley, Gary Kemp, Harry Markham, Jack Henderson and Bethany Dennett for providing me with a wealth of experience and answering my many questions!

“It has genuinely assured me of the path I’m on in my resettlement in Site Management, and I enjoyed every minute.

“I’ll always think of Sewell when it comes to a standard I want to set in my own role in construction one day.”

Sewell on the go also has a long-standing relationship with Hull4Heroes, raising thousands of pounds over the years from collecting donations from customers, to covering Hull4Heroes’ entire fuel bill to take the financial strain away from the charity’s largest outgoing cost during the pandemic.

Businesses and charitable organisations can demonstrate their support for the armed forces community by committing to the covenant, and in doing so pledge to;

o Be an Armed Forces Friend

o Help UK service veterans, leavers, reservists, and cadets get back into the job market

o Support UK service spouses and partners

o Offer flexible leave for spouses

o Support Armed Forces Day, and Reserve Forces Day as well as other Armed Forces Charities
