Sewell Construction scoop national award
The Sewell Construction team is celebrating, after being selected for a prestigious national award.
The company was selected for a National Site Award for its construction site at York St John University, where they’re refurbishing a building to create a state-of-the-art training facility for health students.
The Considerate Constructors National Site Awards has been rewarding the UK’s most considerate construction sites since 1998. They recognize the sites that have made the greatest contribution towards improving the image of the construction industry, through a rigorous assessment process.
The judges visited Sewell Construction’s project at York St John University, and gave the site a top score of 45 out of 45, with judges praising the site team for “demonstrating an ambitious, thoughtful and driven approach to achieving continuous learning and improvement.”
The judges also commended the site’s excellent appearance and organisation, the team’s efforts to minimize disruption to students and staff on the university campus, and the impactful social value plan.
Mark Boothby, Joint Managing Director of Sewell Construction said: “It’s fantastic that we’ve been acknowledged for our good practice for the second year in a row by such a well-regarded scheme as the Considerate Constructors National Site Awards, and we’re honoured that our sites are being held up as the benchmark for quality construction across the country.
“We’re really proud that our staff are being recognised for their efforts to create value for the communities around them and respect for the public, the workforce and the environment, and this award is testament to the whole team’s hard work and dedication.”
Sewell Construction will attend the award ceremony in Manchester in April to find out if they’ve achieved a bronze, silver or gold award, with the coveted title of Most Considerate Site also up for grabs.
It’s been a winning streak for the Sewell Construction team, as their project to transform Hull’s former central fire station into a new creative studio for Ron Dearing University Technical College won two prizes at the Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber Awards last year, including taking home the overall ‘best of the best’ prize.
