School’s out for summer

The kids may be off on holiday, but there’s no rest for Sewell Facilities Management, who are busy getting the region’s schools geared up for September.

We’ve been doing summer works at nine different schools across the area, all of which get freshened up over the holiday ready for the children to return in September.
Amongst other tasks, we look at lifecycle works such as replacing flooring, decorating, and any planned maintenance that would be difficult to perform during the school year, such as maintenance of heating systems and fire alarm and emergency lighting testing. Empty classrooms also allow us to do full deep cleans and sort any furniture that may need replacing.

Callum Campbell, Facilities Manager at Sewell Facilities Management, said that staff work hard over the summer to ensure children and teachers can come back to an environment that allows them to concentrate on learning. He said:

“While lots of people take it easy over the summer, our team have their hands full making sure they can get everything ready for the new term. Although we’re there for our customers 24/7 365 days a year, the summer holidays are our chance to get the big jobs done, so when teachers return they can concentrate on teaching, knowing their building and classrooms are in the best condition.”

We’re really pleased that all our schools see us as a trusted supplier and are continuing to work with us next year, and we’ve even acquired a new one – the new STEAM Studio at Ron Dearing UTC in Hull.

Karen Boardman, Headteacher of St Barnabas CE Primary School, said:

“Having Sewell FM look after the school during the school holidays provides peace of mind. This means a smooth start to the new year as teachers are able to concentrate on welcoming back the pupils. The Sewell FM staff are extremely competent and care about doing the best possible job.”
