Saving energy one bulb at a time

CLIENT: HULL CITYCARE | TYPE OF WORK: FACILITIES MANAGEMENT |  SECTOR: HEALTH

Sewell Facilities Management (FM) knew the benefits LED lights would bring, and now 13 health centres in Hull are saving £££ thanks to the FM team changing over 6,000 bulbs.

LED lights are a great invention. They’re brighter than standard lights, use 25% less energy, don’t need changing for 10 years, and they give massive savings on your power bill. Sewell FM gave themselves a target to replace every single light in Hull’s health centres with LEDs… read on to find out how it went.

Saving more then energy

Long-term benefits

The benefits of LED lights are amazing. The health centres are saving thousands of pounds every month on energy costs, and the lights are using 25% less energy, meaning it’s a win for the environment, too. LED lights last around 10 years – ten times longer than a normal light – so there’s far less disruption for users to the health centres from changing lights, and our technicians can put their time and energy into keeping the buildings in day one condition.

“We’ve replaced almost 7,000 traditional light fittings with low-energy ones across Hull’s 13 health centres, dramatically reducing energy usage, and slashing the buildings’ carbon footprints.”
